FAMILY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME:

An Appeal to the Sponsors

Dear Friend,

Greetings from CODP.

Pope Francis has declared 19th November 2017 as World day of the Poor. He has urged all to make a meaningful celebration on that day that truly expresses our love and concern to the poor.

CODP, the Mangalore Diocesan organization for development and charity had always held the poor at its focus. The Christian charity was foremost concern of CODP. It has been a symbol of church of the poor and for the poor. There is always welcome for poor in our institute.

So far all the developmental and charitable works of CODP were supported by foreign agencies. But since 10-15 years, these agencies are phasing out of this region as this is considered to be ‘developed region’. However we still have poor and needy in our parishes who need our care and support.

It is heartening to note that there are generous philanthropists in our community who are willing to share their goodness with the poor brethren. Some do it secretly without any publicity. God will surely reward their good will.

On the occasion of World Day of the Poor (19.11.2017), CODP had started a new programme of family sponsorship with the help of local sponsors. We have asked the parishes to identify most needy families and to send us their names. We request you to come forward to help them.

Kindly note that we will not be handling any monetary transaction. However the monitoring and assessment of the progress of the families will be done by us.

If you express your desire to be part of this noble work, we shall provide you the contact and bank account details of the families. Thereafter, you will be dealing with them directly.

So may I request you to come forward generously to help these poor of our brethren. Let us show solidarity with the poor. ‘Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren, you do unto me’. (Mt 25:40)

Contact us through e-mail codpindia@gmail.com, or 0824-2221580, 2222004.

Thanking you, looking forward to your favorable response.

Yours truly

Fr. Oswald Monteiro
