The inaugural programme of “Sewing and Embroidery training” organized by the CODP Mangaluru was held on 12th December 2015 at Adyar Padavu, Neermarga,. The Chief Guest Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Director CODP; Mr. Hebert Saldanha, President of VDC (Village Development Committee) along with Mrs. Merlyn Pais, the President of Vinaya Okkutta were present on the dais. The tailoring teacher Mrs. Flavia D Souza, the Coodinator of CODP Mrs. Shanthi D Souza and Animator Mr. Denis D Souza were the other members present. Mr. Denis welcomed the guests on the dais and also the other participants attending the programme.
Fr. Oswald Monteiro in his introductory speech explained the role of CODP. He said that if the students complete this six months course on sewing and embroidery then they could go for self employment in future and can earn extra income to support themselves and their families. He gave examples of various people who became self reliant by hard work and motivated the participants to do the same.
Mrs. Flavia D Souza gave brief information on the course of Sewing and Embroidery to the gathering. The course is of 6 months duration. In the first three months the students will be taught the basics of tailoring and in the next three months the art of embroidery will be imparted to them.
The programme was attended by around 20 participants. On behalf of the attendees, one of the participants proposed the vote of thanks.
