The Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP) organized an interactive session on “Soil and Water Conservation” on 13th Dec. 2015 at Merlapadavu. Mr. Oliver Pinto, PDO of Adyar Panchayath and; Mr. Hebert Saldanha, President of Village Development Committee were present on the dais. Mrs. Shanthi D Souza and Mr. Denis D Souza of CODP compered the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Oliver Pinto explained the importance of MGNREGA and the procedure to avail the various Panchayath facilities. He enlightened the participants on the use and advantages of Solar energy and organic farming. If we use solar energy we save on electricity consumption and thereby save money on electricity bills. On organic farming, he explained about the importance of organically grown vegetables and its impact on our health.
19 farmers and vegetable vendors benefitted from the programme. Some of them clarified their doubts and also shared their experiences on the topic. Mr. Hebert Saldanha proposed the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the participants.
