Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP) organized an awareness programme on “Soil and Water Conservation and Organic Farming” to around 150 students of St. Joseph English Medium school on 10th February 2016 at Merlapadavu. On this occasion the resource persons were Mr. Denis D Souza, Animator and Mrs. Shanthi D Souza, coordinator of CODP. The school Principal Sr. Celestine welcomed the participants and also compeered the programme.
Mr. Denis D Souza in his speech explained in detail the importance of Soil and Water Conservation and Organic Farming to the school students. He cited the proverb “Make the running water to move, moving water to stop and stopped water to percolate” and concluded that we should not complain during water scarcity but instead thank God for granting us plenty By using the scarce natural resources judiciously and wisely we can lead a dignified life.
