“Don’t stare at the steps, but step on the stairs!”.  Yes – this quote is apt to Ms Mishel Queeni D’Costa of Neerude who, despite several difficulties did not get discouraged, but persevered under the UPSC and got selected for the Indian Revenue Service.

Ms Queeni D’Costa was invited to address students who had come to CODP to attend the Youth Empowerment Training at CODP-ISD Mangaluru on 4th Dec. 2016.  The day’s training was organized by Diocesan CAP Cell for selected YET students of classes 10th and PUC.

The classes for 10thstd students were conducted as follows: GMAT by Mr. Patrick Braggs, Mrs Sheryl Prabhu took class on Geography:  Significance of Geography of Coastal Karnataka, Mrs Sharmila took class on Chemistry:  Carbon and its compounds.

In the afternoon, there was an interactive session between YET students and Ms Mishel Queeni D’Costa.  Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Secretary of CODP, welcomed Ms. Queeni Mishel D’Costa. She scored 387th Rank in UPSC this year and got selected for IRS (Indian Revenue Service). Presently, she is undergoing training in IRS at Delhi.  She is the first Mangalorean Catholic candidate to reach IRS position.

Ms. Queeni gave a brief introduction about her career and explained to the students how to appear for Civil Services (UPSC exams).  Some of the students interacted with her and asked questions about UPSC exams. The questions were answered to their satisfaction.

On behalf of the students, Fr. Vernon Vaz, Guidance Cell Co-ordinator proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Stephan Quadros Permude was also present for the session.  26 students enthusiastically participated in the one day YET programme (13 students from 10thstd and 13 students from PUC).
